A common question
This morning, a parent asked a question many others have: “Why should I care about menstrual education? What’s in it for me!!?” Fair and legitimate question that I answered straightaway and that I am sharing here!
I believe that menstrual education is about far more than just biology lessons and certainly different from sexual education. It’s about fostering confidence, breaking stigmas and encouraging open conversations.
Practicalities, realities and logistics
Our workshops cover the practicalities—how to manage periods in real life, from selecting products to handling discomfort. We address the realities—the emotional, physical, and social aspects that are often left out of typical conversations about menstruation. We also focus on the logistics, preparing families for the unexpected and empowering them to handle challenges with confidence.
When to seek help
While menstrual educators do not provide a clinical service, we guide parents and daughters on when to seek medical advice from a GP, midwife or school nurse. Understanding menstrual health and knowing when to ask for help is a key part of menstrual literacy.
Raising awareness and breaking stigmas
Our workshops go beyond the basics. We raise awareness about issues like period poverty and other health challenges related to menstruation. We believe in sparking a quiet revolution, creating a future where periods are no longer whispered about in shame but understood and embraced.
An investment in the future
Investing in menstrual education is not just about teaching biology—it’s about building healthier conversations, stronger relationships and a generation that grows up without the burden of outdated taboos. That’s the true value of my workshops.
